Manchester United will let Dean Henderson join Nottingham Forest once David de Gea signs new contract
Dean Henderson will be allowed to join Nottingham Forest from Manchester United this summer once David de Gea signs a new contract, according to ESPN.
The Spain international’s existing deal with the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of the season. However, talks regarding fresh terms with the former Atletico Madrid star are in advanced stages.
As things stand, the 32-year-old is expected to extend his stay at the Red Devils. Once that is done, the club will let Henderson negotiate his move to the Tricky Trees.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the 26-year-old was on loan at the West Bridgford-based club. Now, the City Ground side are keen on acquiring the shot-stopper’s services on a permanent basis.
Henderson is tied down to United until June 2025. Therefore, it is anticipated that the Red Devils will ask for a sizable sum to part ways with the English national.
The 26-year-old once looked to be the next number one at the Old Trafford side. In the 2020/21 season, the promising goalkeeper shared minutes with De Gea in between the sticks.
However, the Spaniard pipped him in the pecking order to retain the spot in between the sticks. Since then, the 32-year-old has put in some clutch performances and made some outrageous saves.
Unfortunately, under Erik ten Hag, Dea Gea has often left a lot to be desired and has been error-prone. As a result, the Spaniard’s spot in the team as the first-choice is not guaranteed going into next season.

It seems like it was not meant to be for Henderson at United. The English national is a decent shot-stopper. But it is evident that the 26-year-old and the Red Devils are not on the same page regarding his status in the squad.
