AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi ‘wants’ Manchester United transfer
Manchester United are the chosen destination for AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to L’Equipe (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter).
The France international ‘wants’ to make a move to the Red Devils this summer. However, the Old Trafford side have not taken any concrete steps yet to acquire the services of the centre-back.
United see the 25-year-old as Plan B in order to bolster their backline. Napoli’s Kim Min-jae remains the top priority for the Manchester-based club as things stand.

Understand there’s still nothing concrete in terms of agreement between Man Utd and AS Monaco — Kim Min jae remains the top target as CB. pic.twitter.com/FzyspBzU4m
Disasi has been at the Red and Whites since the summer of 2020. He signed for the Monegasques from Stade Reims and has been ever-present in their defence since.
Over the years, the French national has gone from strength to strength at the Ligue 1 outfit. In the 2022/23 campaign, the Stade Louis-II side did not end the league on the best of terms and finished sixth in the table.
Still, the 25-year-old has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays over the last few months. He played as a right-back for Les Bleus in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they lost to Argentina in the final.
United’s defence has seen Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane play together a lot this season. Erik ten Hag has preferred the Argentine and French nationals in the Red Devils’ backline.
As a result, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have found game time hard to come by at the Old Trafford side. Our captain and the Swedish national have lost their influence in the team and have fallen down the pecking order since the Dutch manager’s arrival.

Therefore, it would not be a surprise if we lost depth in the centre-back area this summer. In that case, Disasi is a decent option to have our eye on to reinforce the ranks. However, it remains to be seen whether the French national will end up playing for us in the upcoming campaign.
