Real Madrid eye Manchester United target and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as Karim Benzema replacement
Manchester United target and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has been identified as a replacement for Karim Benzema by Real Madrid, according to talkSPORT on Twitter (h/t Express).
The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner will part ways with Los Blancos in the coming weeks. After a 14-year career at the Santiago Bernabeu side, the French national has decided to say goodbye to the Spanish capital.
As things stand, the La Liga outfit have no recognised replacement in their squad for the 35-year-old. To that end, Carlo Ancelotti has earmarked the 29-year-old Spurs striker as his top target ahead of next summer.
Madrid are ready to test the North London side’s resolve to get the heir to Benzema. The Lilywhites are keen on keeping a hold of the English skipper, with his contract set to enter the final 12 months soon.
However, Kane would prefer to stay in England. The Red Devils are interested in acquiring the 29-year-old’s services in the upcoming transfer window to bolster their attack.
The England international has thrived in the Premier League at Tottenham. He has been one of the best players in the world for some time now. But silverware has eluded the forward at the North London side.
United’s attack has heavily relied on Marcus Rashford this season. The 25-year-old has been our only forward who has found the back of the net on a consistent basis since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
The Red Devils’ academy graduate has had to often play out of position as a number nine in the current campaign. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst have not been dependable due to various reasons over the last few months.
