Fred set for discussions over Manchester United future
Manchester United midfielder Fred is set to sit down and have a conversation with all parties involved regarding his future at the Old Trafford side.
As things stand, the Brazil international’s future at the Red Devils is uncertain. He is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Fulham ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Manchester-based club could decide to part ways with the 30-year-old next summer.
Speaking to TNT Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Fred acknowledged the question marks around his stint at United. With a year left on his contract, the midfielder is going to think long and hard about what is to come.
“I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family. I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it’s holiday time and a good opportunity to rest. I’ll talk to my staff, to the club, and see what everyone’s decision is.”
In the summer of 2018, the Red Devils signed the Brazilian from Shakhtar Donetsk. In previous years, he was a regular member of the first team. However, while the 30-year-old is still an important part of the squad, his game time this season has dwindled.
Fred has had his moments at the Old Trafford side. Unfortunately, they have been few and far between. As a result, the midfielder has never really cemented his place in the starting lineup.
Against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, the Brazilian started and played the full 90 minutes. Unfortunately, he did have the best of games and we ended up losing 2-1 to our arch-rivals.
United bolstered their engine room with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. The two have been the gaffer’s preferred duo in the midfield pivot for most of the campaign.
The former Real Madrid star has brought much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ midfield. On the other hand, the Danish national has been the creative outlet in the middle of the park.

Alongside Fred, Scott McTominay has also been a bit-part player at the Old Trafford side. Despite his diminished influence in the team, the Brazilian will evidently find it hard to move to a better place than the Theatre of Dreams. Therefore, it remains to be seen what the future will hold for the 30-year-old.
