Manchester United want to complete the deal to sign Mason Mount by end of week
As per Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are eager to complete the deal to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount by the end of the week.
A few days ago, it was revealed that United have agreed personal terms with Mount, with price valuation from both clubs being the only stopper in the deal. The player is keen on moving to Old Trafford.
The England international’s contract at Chelsea expires next summer, with the likelihood of him signing an extension there very slim.
With it being suggested that United are looking to wrap this deal up in the coming days, it shows that the player is convinced that his time at Stamford Bridge is over.
If or when the Red Devils sign Mount, it would be interesting to see how much they will pay for the transfer. Chelsea want something in the region of £70m even though the player’s contract expires in a year.
Can United sign him for less than that? The answer has to be a yes because the club cannot throw extra money on one player and potentially cut the budget for other signings. Erik ten Hag would want extensive backing in the transfer market to continue with the good work he has done this season.
The Red Devils are in the race to sign a striker this summer, with Harry Kane and Rasmus Hojlund linked. They must be ruthless and find a replacement for David de Gea in the market.

Amidst all that, Mount would be a great addition to the squad. He is technically good, can play in various positions and works hard off the ball. He can be an ideal player for ten Hag around the attacking midfield areas.
