Manchester United winger Antony shares his confidence that the team will come back stronger next season
After the FA Cup final which resulted in Manchester United losing to their city rivals Manchester City, United winger Antony tweeted that the Red Devils will come back stronger next season to hopefully compete for trophies.
Antony missed the cup final due to an ankle injury he suffered against Chelsea more than a week ago. He was having a good end to his first season at Old Trafford after a stuttering start. Hence, the team must have missed his presence on the field at Wembley.
Regardless of the result on Saturday, this should be classed as a good season for United under the stewardship of Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman, in his first year here, did a magnificent job. The team broke the trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup a couple of months ago.
After the final, Casemiro urged the club hierarchy to spend big in the transfer market and sign quality players to strengthen the depth of the squad.
After seeing another disastrous performance by David de Gea, ten Hag must be tempted to replace him with a better keeper in the summer.
Getting a striker has to be on top of the list as well because relying on Anthony Martial might not be good for the team’s future in terms of challenging for the biggest trophies.
In midfield, United are hoping to wrap the Mason Mount deal by the end of the week. The 24-year-old is a versatile player who covers the potential gaps in attacking and central midfield.
