Stefan Ortega to start over Ederson for Manchester City against Manchester United
Manchester City will start Stefan Ortega in between the sticks over first-choice Ederson against Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
The Sky Blues will take on the Old Trafford side at Wembley Stadium on 3 June. Our Manchester rivals have the opportunity to complete a historic treble. They already have the Premier League under their belt and are also in the Champions League final.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News ahead of the match, Pep Guardiola confirmed that City’s number two would feature for them in the final versus the Red Devils.

“Yeah he’s going to play. It’s always been the same in the cups, even with Barcelona and Munich, so he’s going to play in the FA Cup.”
Ortega signed for the Cityzens last summer as a free agent. Previously, the 30-year-old had played for the likes of Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga.
The German national has started in every domestic cup fixture for the Sky Blues in the current campaign. Guardiola chose him ahead of Ederson in the Carabao Cup and the veteran shot-stopper has been pivotal in the Etihad Stadium side’s FA Cup run.
Overall, Ortega has made 13 appearances in all competitions for City this season. The German national has conceded only six goals in those matches and has kept nine clean sheets.

United have counted on David de Gea for most of the campaign. The Spaniard has been Erik ten Hag’s preferred option in goal in every competition. We won the Carabao Cup with the 32-year-old in between the sticks.
The Dutch manager also has the likes of Tom Heaton and Jack Butland at his disposal. However, it looks like the gaffer does not trust them. With all due respect, the two English nationals are not up to the Red Devils’ standards.
