Brentford warned to lower David Raya asking price amidst Manchester United links
Premier League rivals Brentford have been warned to lower the asking price for David Raya or risk losing him for free amidst links to Manchester United.
The Spain international’s current contract with the Bees expires in the summer of 2024. Over the last few months, the shot-stopper has rejected several renewal offers.
At the moment, the Gtech Community Stadium side have placed a £40 million price tag on the experienced goalkeeper. However, speaking to the media via The Sun, Jaume Munell, the 27-year-old’s agent, has asked the West London club to re-evaluate their demand.
“If Brentford does not lower the price tag for David Raya this summer, we’ll be ready to leave as free agent in one year.”
The Red Devils, along with English top-flight side Chelsea and Tottenham, have Raya on their radar. The shot-stopper’s camp believes £15–20 million would be a fair price for Brentford to part ways with him.
In the summer of 2019, the Spaniard signed for the Bees. After helping them get promoted to the PL from the Championship, the experienced goalkeeper has been pivotal in the Gtech Community Stadium side surviving the drop in the last two seasons.
In the current campaign, the 27-year-old has been an undisputed starter in Thomas Frank’s team. He played in all of the 38 league matches for the West London club, keeping 12 clean sheets.

David de Gea has been in fine form for United over the last two seasons. The former Atletico Madrid star clinched the PL Golden Glove award for the 2022/23 campaign.
However, the Spaniard’s existing deal with the Red Devils will conclude at the end of the season. Apart from the 32-year-old, we only have Tom Heaton and Jack Butland in our ranks as things stand.

Therefore, apart from adding competition to the team, the Old Trafford side also evidently need to find a successor for De Gea. But will Raya be the answer the club are looking for? Only time will tell. But the fee Brentford are looking to get for him is unreasonable.
