Manchester United have placed a £10 million price tag on Anthony Elanga ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Initially, the Red Devils had decided to send the Sweden international on loan next season. However, with the youngster on the fringes of the squad, the Old Trafford side have opted to put him up for sale.

The 21-year-old has found game time hard to come by since the arrival of Erik ten Hag. In the coming months, a number of the players’ futures will be up in the air, with the club planning for more departures than incoming.

Elanga made his way through the youth ranks at United. Last season, the forward broke into the Red Devils’ first-team setup. However, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the youngster his debut for the Old Trafford side, it was under Ralf Rangnick that the Swedish national’s influence rose.

The former interim head coach relied heavily on the 21-year-old, with our other forwards underwhelming. He made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Manchester-based club, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

But in the current campaign, Elanga has been unable to break into the Dutch manager’s plans. While the Sweden international was involved a bit before the 2022 World Cup, the youngster did not feature in any of our last 13 Premier League matches.

Ten Hag has mostly relied on Antony on the right wing. The Brazil international reunited with the gaffer last summer after signing from Ajax and has been ever-present in the starting lineup.

On the left-hand side of our attack, Marcus Rashford is an option for the Dutch manager. The England international has been our talisman in the current campaign and has shouldered the burden of our attack. Alejandro Garnacho has also been influential.

Therefore, it does not look like Ten Hag trusts Elanaga. The Swedish national is still young and has shown glimpses of his potential at the Old Trafford side. Therefore, it would be wise for the 21-year-old to continue his development elsewhere.
