According to Portuguese outlet A Bola via Cabine Sport on Twitter, Manchester United target Diogo Costa is set to leave FC Porto in the coming summer window and has played his last game for the club.

Costa has been on United’s radar for some time and it looks like the player will be on the move with a release clause of €75m set on his contract.

United are in the running for the goalkeeper and have scouted him multiple times during the season and would be seen as one of the favourites for his signature, although competition from other top clubs is also expected.

David De Gea won the Premier League Golden Glove showcasing the impressive season he has had with the. But there are still question marks over whether the player is suited for the way Erik Ten Hag wants his team to play.

While a top-class shot-stopper, his inability to be comfortable in playing out from the back has led United to enter the market for another goalkeeper and build healthy competition in the squad.

Costa could be exactly the profile that United needs and has the potential to usurp De Gea as the club’s no.1 for the future with the player still only 23 and has a long career ahead of him.

He has already become Portugal’s no.1 goalkeeper and there are rave reviews about his ability and potential from Portugal. It would definitely be a signing that would show that the club is moving in the right direction.

De Gea has been a good servant to the club and is still performing to a good level for the club but in the end, costly mistakes like the ones made against Sevilla are something that cannot be done at the highest level.
