Manchester United plan summer move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez
Manchester United have planned to pursue the signature of Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez as a backup option ahead of next summer, according to GiveMeSport (h/t Express).
As things stand, the Red Devils are ‘waiting for clarity’ regarding their three top targets — Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus.
If the Old Trafford side are unable to get a hold of either of them, then the World Cup-winning Argentine is on the Manchester-based club’s radar as an alternative option.
Martinez signed for Inter in the summer of 2018. Since then, the 25-year-old has grown from strength to strength and has developed into one of the best attackers in Serie A.
Over the last few seasons, the Argentine has found his shooting boots and has been prolific for the Nerazzurri. At the moment, Simone Inzaghi’s team are in the Champions League final and will face Premier League champions Manchester City in the coming weeks.
In the current campaign, Martinez has made 55 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit, scoring 28 goals and providing 11 assists. United could get a hold of the 25-year-old for £60 million.

At United, Erik ten Hag has had Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal for the number nine position since January. However, the French national has been injury-prone this season.
As for the Holland international, he was signed on loan from Burnley and has left a lot to be desired up front. Marcus Rashford has shouldered the burden of our attack since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
