AC Milan beat Manchester United to Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada
Manchester United are set to miss out on Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada, who is on the verge of signing for AC Milan, according to Patrick Berger of Sport1 (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Japan international’s current contract with Die Adler is set to expire at the end of the season. To that end, the Rosoneri are close to acquiring the midfielder’s services on a free transfer ahead of next summer.
After the 26-year-old’s impressive displays in the 2022 World Cup, he caught a lot of people’s attention. Subsequently, the playmaker popped up on the Old Trafford side as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea’s radar.
Kamada has been at Frankfurt since the summer of 2017. Over the last four campaigns, the Japanese has been a key player in the Bundesliga outfit’s starting lineup.
During his stint at the German side, the playmaker has mostly played as a number 10. However, he has also been deployed in the number eight and other attacking positions over the years.
In the current campaign, the 26-year-old has enjoyed his best spell in the final third of the pitch at Frankfurt. The midfielder has made 46 appearances in all competitions for Oliver Glasner’s team, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.

◉ There’s verbal agreement in principle, club optimistic but careful until he signs.
◉ Between European bids, Kamada has picked Milan.
◉ Contract will be valid until June 2028, as per @berger_pj.

United have had Bruno Fernandes as the number 10 for quite some time now. The Portugal international has been one of the de-facto leaders in the team since signing from Sporting CP a few years back.
However, apart from the 28-year-old, Erik ten Hag does not seem to have many options in the position. The gaffer has tried Jadon Sancho in the role on a few occasions this season.

Therefore, we could evidently do with some more strength in depth in the middle of the park. Kamada could have come for free. But it looks like Milan are going to acquire his services.
