PSG joined by Manchester United in race for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo
Manchester United have joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the race for Santos and Brazil youngster Marcos Leonardo, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are amongst a number of sides keeping tabs on the 20-year-old at the moment. He is currently playing for the Canarinhos at the U20 World Cup in Argentina.
As such, the Old Trafford side are tracking the forward’s performances in the tournament. He has featured in all three group games for Carlos Amadeu’s team, scoring two goals against Italy and one against the Dominican Republic.
PSG and United are not the only ones keeping an eye on Leonardo. Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Juventus, and AS Roma also have him on their radar.
The 20-year-old has been in and around Santo’s first team for some time now. Over the last two years, the Brazilian has been a regular in the Brasileirao outfit’s starting lineup.
As things stand, the Parisians have the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar in their front line. However, the Argentine and Brazilian superstars could leave the club next summer.

As for United, Erik ten Hag has had only Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal as the only two natural strikers. But the Dutch manager has been unable to rely on the French national due to his injury issues.
On the other hand, the Holland international is on loan at the Old Trafford side. The 30-year-old is only at the club until the end of the season.

Therefore, apart from a prolific goalscorer, we could evidently use another promising second-choice number nine in our ranks. However, will United be able to pip PSG and the rest of the competition to Leonardo’s signature? Only time will tell.
