Fulham are interested in signing Fred and Manchester United would let the player go
As per Manchester Evening News, Fulham are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Fred, with the Red Devils considering selling the Brazilian this summer.
After the final Premier League game on Sunday, Fulham boss Marco Silva was seen speaking to Fred outside the Old Trafford Stadium.
The 30-year-old has started only 22 games this season so far, which is quite low for a player who was a prominent presence under the previous management. Erik ten Hag has generally preferred a midfield partnership of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen with Bruno Fernandes floating around.
The report also states that the United hierarchy is looking to sell Fred and buy a younger central midfielder in the summer. It would make a lot of sense since the Brazilian hasn’t been playing much anyway.
The former Shakhtar midfielder’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer (Transfermarkt). So, if the club does not sell him now, they will lose him for free at the end of next season, unless a new contract is signed (which looks unlikely).
It is also revealed that the club is under pressure to generate money through player sales to buy new players in the summer window. Apart from Fred, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and more will be on the selling list.
Among the areas United need to bolster this window, signing a striker has to be on top of the agenda. Harry Kane was earmarked by ten Hag as his primary target. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy would like to sell their star player to a direct Premier League rival.

Coming back to Fred, if the possible appearance in the FA Cup Final is to be his last in a United shirt, we wish him all the best wherever he goes next, be it Fulham or any other club.
