Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is delighted with how the club’s season has gone so far after the win over Leeds United in the final Premier League match of the campaign.

The Red Devils welcomed Marco Silva’s team on Sunday (28 May). After the Cottagers took the lead against the Old Trafford side, we managed to make a comeback and won 2-1. The Manchester-based club have finished the season in third place in the table.

Speaking to MUTV (h/t Manchester Evening News) after the victory, Maguire was glad about the progress the team have made under Erik ten Hag.

“The season is not finished yet, but up to now, it’s been a positive season from where we were and I must say we’re making progress. It’s been a big improvement and it’s a step in the right direction.”

The Dutch manager has managed to turn things around admirably at United. In the previous campaign, the Red Devils looked all over the place. However, the former Ajax head coach has brought back an identity to the Old Trafford side.

Ten Hag ended the Manchester-based club’s six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup win earlier in the campaign. We are also in the FA Cup final and will face Manchester City on 3 June.

United will be playing in the Champions League next season as well. Thus, all in all, considering where the Red Devils were a year back, we have come leaps and bounds under the Dutch manager.

But Maguire has been in the background mostly in the current campaign. Since the former Ajax head coach’s arrival, the former Leicester City star has lost his place in the starting lineup.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been the gaffer’s preferred duo in the backline. As a result, our skipper, as well as Victor Lindelof, have been backup options.

Maguire played the full 90 minutes against Fulham. It would not be a surprise if it were the last time the 30-year-old featured for the Red Devils in the PL. Where the England international’s future lies remains to be seen.
