Manchester United forward Antony injury “serious” during Chelsea game
Manchester United forward Antony picked up an injury during the Red Devils’ 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday (25 May).
Apart from the Brazil international, Luke Shaw was also taken off at half-time with an apparent knock. Marcus Rashford came on for the 23-year-old forward at around the half-hour mark, while the 27-year-old English national was replaced by Tyrell Malacia at the break.
Speaking to beIN Sports after the victory via the club’s official website, Ten Hag admitted that Antony’s issue looked concerning. On the other hand, the Dutch manager was not extremely worried about Shaw.

“It’s difficult always to say, straight after the game, but, yeah, Antony is serious. Luke Shaw, we have to see. I don’t think it’s too bad but we have to wait 24 hours. We’ll have a diagnosis and we will know more.”
The Brazilian had to be taken off on a stretcher after a challenge with Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. We could potentially be without the former Ajax star for the final game of the Premier League season and the FA Cup final.
Antony signed for United in the summer of 2022. The 23-year-old reunited with the Ten Hag in Manchester and has played a key role in the gaffer’s plans in the current campaign.
The Brazilian has been mercurial in his debut season at the Old Trafford side. Unfortunately, the forward has been inconsistent for the Red Devils.

On the other hand, Shaw has been pivotal in United’s success in the 2022/23 term. The left-back has secured his place as the first choice in the Dutch manager’s starting lineup.
The England international has also been deployed as a centre-back on occasions by Ten Hag and has done well. It remains to be seen how long the 27-year-old will be out for.
