Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes looking to ruin treble hopes of Manchester City

Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes is looking to ruin the treble hopes of Manchester City by beating them in the FA Cup final.

The Red Devils will take on the Sky Blues on 3 June at Wembley Stadium. As things stand, Pep Guardiola’s team have clinched the Premier League title and are in the final of the Champions League as well.

Speaking via the club’s official website, the Portugal international is raring to take on the Cityzens after securing a place in the top four. The 28-year-old, more than anything, wants to get his hands on another trophy.

“We want to win it, just that. Obviously, we know if we win it, we ruin the option for City doing the Treble, that is important for them. But for us, as players, it is about getting another trophy.”

City have been impressive once again in the current campaign. The Sky Blues managed to pip Arsenal to the league title. The Gunners were in pole position just a few weeks back but slipped up and gave Guardiola’s team the impetus to go ahead.

The Cityens also got past Real Madrid with ease in the UCL semi-final. Against Los Blancos in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, they scored four past Carlo Ancelotti’s team to set up a clash with Inter Milan in the final.

City beat the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in the early rounds of the FA Cup to make it this far. United also saw Brighton & Hove Albion off and won on penalties to ensure a Manchester derby in the final.

Erik ten Hag has found success in a short span of time at the Old Trafford side. The Red Devils ended their six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup win.

Fernandes has been a crucial cog in the Dutch manager’s plans this season. The Portuguese has often donned the captain’s armband since the former Ajax head coach’s arrival, with Harry Maguire being relegated to the bench.
