Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi attracting interest from Premier League amidst Manchester United links
Giovanni Carnevali, the chief of Sassuolo, has revealed that Manchester United target Davide Frattesi is attracting interest from the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag will look to bolster the engine room in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the Italy international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils in recent days.
Speaking to media via Manchester Evening News, Carnevali acknowledged that a team from the English top flight are looking to acquire the 23-year-old’s services next summer.
“I can reveal that the best opportunity for Davide Frattesi is now coming from a Premier League club. I suggest Davide to learn English as soon as possible.”
United are one of the teams eyeing Frattesi’s signature. PL rivals Brighton & Hove Albion also have the midfielder on their radar and will battle the Manchester-based club for him.
The Italian signed for Sassuolo after spending his youth career at Roma. Subsequently, the 23-year-old spent a few years out on loan before making a place for himself in the Serie A outfit’s starting lineup.
Last season, Frattesi became a key player for the Neroverdi. The midfielder has continued to be pivotal in the Mapei Stadium side’s plans in the current campaign as well, scoring seven goals in 36 league appearances.
United’s engine room was solidified last summer with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The two have formed an impressive pairing in the middle of the park for the Red Devils.
However, both of them turned 31 in February. On the bench, Fred is also past his prime physical years. Therefore, we could evidently do with some fresh blood in the midfield.
