Lazio are ready to sell Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic Savic in the summer transfer window
Manchester United’s annual link with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic means that the summer transfer window is close by.
The Serbian has been linked with United over the past seasons but there were never any concrete dealings done between the player and the club.
The rumours have surfaced again with claims that the Italian club are ready to sanction a sale for the Serbian midfielder in the upcoming summer window.
His contract at Lazio expires in 2024 hence this summer transfer window provides a good opportunity for Lazio to recoup a sizeable fee for the player.
Milinkovic-Savic has established himself as one of the top box-to-box midfielders in Serie A and it could be said that he would be looking to try himself in the Premier League.
Savic, 28, has a few years of his prime left and hence this window presents the perfect opportunity for both the player and the clubs to take a punt.
A move away from Lazio looks more likely now with the club’s sporting director while speaking to Sky Sport Italia (h/t Manchester Evening News) confirming that a move for the player is likely.
“For the good of everyone, we will sit around a table and clarify this. What I say for me is also valid for him, he has a strong bond with Lazio, he admires and respects the club and coach. Anything can happen, including a sale to another club.”
Erik Ten Hag has exceeded all expectations in his first year at United but now needs backing from the board to add top quality to a squad that requires reinforcements.
While signing a striker is a priority for the club, reinforcements in midfield are also crucial and specifically of a profile that can compliment Casemiro in a double pivot and also can act as a sole holding midfielder.

Savic cannot be used as a sole holding midfielder but is definitely one of the better 8’s available in the market and he could be signed for a fairly reasonable fee.
It is important that we secure the important point in the game against Chelsea to confirm our Uefa Champions League spot and then focus on the targets for the upcoming summer window.
