Strasbourg Alsace wonderkid Habib Diarra on Manchester City and Manchester United radar
Habib Diarra, who currently plays for Strasbourg Alsace, is on the radar of Manchester United and Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to The Sun.
A total of nine sides in the English top flight saw the 19-year-old play in the 2-0 win over OGC Nice in Ligue 1. The midfielder started in the number 10 position and played the full 90 minutes.
Apart from the two Manchester-based clubs, several other teams are monitoring Diarra. Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Leicester City and Leeds United are eyeing him.
The 19-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at Strasbourg. In the previous campaign, the youngster found himself in the first-team setup. But this season, the midfielder has been a regular in the French outfit’s starting lineup.
Diarra is a versatile player and has played in various positions, ranging from a defensive midfielder to a number 10. In 28 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side, the France U19 international has scored three goals and has provided three assists.
City have relied on the likes of Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne in the middle of the park. But they are not getting any younger.
On the other hand, Man United bolstered their engine room last summer with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. Unfortunately, they are both 31 and there seems to be no quality backup on the bench for either of them.
Scott McTominay, Fred and Donny van de Beek have been inconsistent over the years at United. In the previous transfer window, the Red Devils signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan to add depth to the middle of the park.
