Peter Crouch feels Manchester United “only real option” for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane
Former Premier League and England ace Peter Crouch feels Manchester United is the “only real option” for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane ahead of next summer.
The 29-year-old is set to enter the final year of his current contract at Spurs next season. As things stand, there is speculation regarding the striker’s future in North London. To that end, the Red Devils are one of the potential destinations for the English skipper.
Speaking on BT Sport (h/t Mirror), Crouch revealed that he had spoken with Kane. The ex-Tottenham and Stoke City number nine believes a move to the Old Trafford side is the only realistic one if the 29-year-old leaves Spurs.
“Where can he go? Manchester City City is sewn up now. Manchester United is the only real option I can see. You can’t go to Chelsea. You can’t go to Arsenal.”
Manchester City have been one of the best teams in the world once again this season. The Sky Blues are on course to win a historic treble. With Erling Haaland up front, the Cityzens have become even more frightening.
As for Chelsea and Arsenal, they are Tottenham’s bitter London rivals. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will opt to upset the Spurs fans by signing for them.
Kane has been at the North London side for several years now. Season after season, the striker has carried the Lilywhites and has won major individual accolades. Unfortunately, team trophies have eluded the England international.
At United, the number nine position is in dire need of reinforcements, with Anthony Martial and Wout Wegorst the only two natural strikers at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.
Unfortunately, the French national has been unreliable in the current campaign due to his fitness issues. Thus, we had to sign the Holland international on loan from Burnley in January to add cover for the oft-injured 27-year-old.
Kane is an established PL player who has been consistent in finding the back of the net for Tottenham. A player like him would evidently make us better. But it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will leave Spurs and move to the Theatre of Dreams in the coming months.
