Manchester United ‘planning’ £434 million spend in the summer transfer window
Manchester United are ‘planning’ to spend £434 million on bolstering the squad in multiple positions in the summer transfer window, according to El Pais (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are eyeing a massive squad overhaul, with five players being eyed by the club. Along with a striker and a midfielder, the addition of a left winger and two defenders are on the agenda.
Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, who is interested in acquiring the Old Trafford side, is aware of the project. But it remains to be seen whether we will actually spend that much in the forthcoming summer.
Over the last two transfer windows, United have signed a few quality players. Tyrell Malacia was the first player to walk through the doors at the Old Trafford side upon the appointment of Erik ten Hag.
Subsequently, we got Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. The Denmark international has surprised many with the influence he has had in the gaffer’s plans this season.
Then, the Dutch manager reunited with Lisandro Martinez in Manchester. The Argentina international has become a key player for the Red Devils and has formed a formidable partnership with Raphael Varane in our backline.
The engine room was reinforced further with Casemiro. The former Real Madrid star has added much-needed quality to United’s midfield. Without the Brazilian, the team looks a bit lost on occasion.
Antony also signed from Ten Hag’s former club Ajax last summer and has shown glimpses of his potential so far. In January, the Red Devils did not spend big and got Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer on loan.

There are still some evident deficiencies in our squad, especially up front and in the middle of the park. Hopefully, after the Dutch manager’s promising debut season at the Old Trafford side, the current or prospective new owners will back him in the coming months.
