Manchester United remain hopeful of signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who wants to move to the Premier League

As per Sky Sports transfer paper talk, Manchester United are hopeful of signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who prefers to come to England rather than joining Paris-Saint Germain.

A few days ago, the Guardian reported that Chelsea are eyeing up an ambitious swoop for the Nigerian international in the coming summer window.

Osimhen, 24, played a key role in leading Napoli to win the Serie A this season. He scored 23 goals and assisted five in 29 league games and forged an excellent forward-line partnership with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

We all know that United are keen on signing a striker in the coming transfer window. Erik ten Hag has talked about getting a player who can finish off the chances created by the team.

The Times (subscription required) has reported that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

It remains to be seen if the club can sign two strikers and add more depth to the forward line, or spend big on one and hope he does the bulk of the scoring from next season onwards.

If we compare Kane and Osimhen – two top-dollar strikers in the European game currently, the latter is younger than the former and may have a higher ceiling and longevity

With regards to attributes, Kane is not too bad, to be honest. The England captain can do it all as a striker.

Osimhen, on the other hand, has the pace to burn, is physically strong, can finish chances at a good rate, and can drop deep to link up with the attacking midfielders or wingers.

If it is between Osimhen and Kane, United must spend the big money on younger talent and make him the poster boy of a potentially successful project under ten Hag.
