Erik ten Hag feels Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho “improving”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag feels Jadon Sancho is “improving” and has been impressed by the winger’s recent performances.

The England international has had another volatile campaign and the forward has been unable to showcase his qualities on a consistent basis. After the World Cup in Qatar, the 23-year-old was on the sidelines for a considerable period before returning to action.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with Sancho in the last few months. The gaffer is of the opinion that more is yet to come from the attacker at the Old Trafford side.

“He is improving, if you see his performances. He had some good performances against Wolves and Spurs. He is doing well. So in this moment he has a good base and now he has to keep improving.”

The English national signed for United in the summer of 2021 from Borussia Dortmund. In Germany, the winger made a name for himself and was a force to be reckoned with for opposition defences.

Unfortunately, the 23-year-old seems to have lost confidence on his return to England. At the Red Devils, the forward has been unable to reach the heights he did at the Signal Iduna Park side.

After a disappointing debut campaign, the arrival of Ten Hag saw Sancho put in some impressive displays initially. However, his inconsistency has been a let-down at the Old Trafford side.

In recent weeks though, the English national has found his feet once again. The forward has primarily played on the left wing in the last few matches and has done well.

But whether the 23-year-old will be able to keep putting in acceptable displays week in, and week out remains to be seen. Alejandro Garnacho has come back to action and brings much-needed energy to the team. Marcus Rashford is also naturally a left-sided attacker.

Therefore, Sancho will need to keep up his form to cement a place in the starting lineup. Hopefully, Ten Hag will be able to unlock the English national’s untapped potential at United in the coming months.
