West Ham United ‘revive’ interest in Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire
Premier League rivals West Ham United are set to ‘revive’ their interest in Manchester United star Harry Maguire, according to ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The England international has fallen down the pecking order in the current campaign. As a result, he could depart the Old Trafford side in the upcoming transfer window. The defender will be put up for sale next summer by the Red Devils.
To that end, the Hammers are one of the centre-back’s possible destinations. David Moyes’ team are going to once again make an approach for the 30-year-old after trying to get him back in January.
Maguire signed for United in the summer of 2019 from Leicester City. Subsequently, after a few months at the club, the defender was handed the captain’s armband.
Over the years, the English national has been a pivotal player for the Red Devils. The centre-back was one of the first names on the team sheet in past seasons.
However, since Erik ten Hag’s arrival, the 30-year-old has lost his influence in the team. The Dutch manager has counted on Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane for most of the campaign.
The World Cup-winning duo have established a formidable partnership in the Old Trafford side’s defence. Apart from them, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw have also played a lot at centre-back.
Maguire recently had the opportunity to prove himself. However, against Sevilla in the Europa League, the defender did not put in encouraging performances in both legs of the quarter-finals.

Therefore, it seems like the right time for the English national to part ways with United. However, whether West Ham will be the 30-year-old’s next destination remains to be seen. Under Moyes lately, the Hammers have found their feet with Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma in defence.
