Manchester United ‘ready’ to double salary offer for Rangers target Jack Butland
Manchester United are ‘ready’ to offer Jack Butland double the salary Rangers are willing to give him to keep the shot-stopper at the club next season, according to The Scottish Sun.
The English national signed for the Red Devils on loan in the previous transfer window from Crystal Palace until the end of the campaign. But the goalkeeper’s existing deal with the Eagles is set to expire in the coming months.
As a result, the 30-year-old will be available on a Bosman deal next summer. To that end, Rangers are targeting a move for him.
However, the Ibrox Stadium side will face competition from the Old Trafford side. Erik ten Hag wants to keep a hold of Butland as one of his options in between the sticks.
The Scottish giants are hoping to lure the English national with the promise of first-team action. Allan McGregor, who is 41, is the current number one in Michael Beale’s team at the moment.
United have relied on David de Gea for most of the season. The Spaniard has been the gaffer’s first choice at the Old Trafford side in the current campaign.
While the 32-year-old has been impressive, he has also had his fair share of slip-ups in recent weeks. The veteran goalkeeper leaves a lot to be desired at times as the leader at the back and with his distribution.
However, the Dutch manager does not have a lot of quality options to count in the goalkeeping department. Tom Heaton has played a few cup games in the current campaign for the Red Devils.
