Manchester United aim to bolster their midfield in the summer and are interested in getting Manu Kone
According to RMCSport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone in the summer window.
The report states that the Red Devils are keen on adding quality to the midfield department, hence Kone is on their radar.
Back in March, there was a report in the Liverpool Echo linking Liverpool with the 21-year-old. That report also revealed that Monchengladbach have lowered their asking price to £26m as they want funds to add players in the transfer market.
We have not read a lot about Liverpool going for his signature in the last few weeks. It might mean that they have withdrawn their interest in the player.
Kone, 21, who arrived at Monchengladbach from Toulouse in 2021, has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt).
He is a versatile midfield player who can either play as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder or an attacking midfielder.
The French U21 international is good at dribbling in tight areas, possesses good passing accuracy, does not shirk away from duels and tackling and has a good long shot in him.
If we look at the numbers, Kone in the Bundesliga has a pass accuracy of 87.1% this season. He has made 2.5 tackles and 1.9 dribbles per game (Whoscored).
The Frenchman has the quality and the right age profile to come to Old Trafford and do well under Erik ten Hag. Whether the boss wants this player, or has someone else in mind to boost the midfield, we will know soon.

If the price tag tagged by the Echo is right, Kone at £26m would be a steal for United. Signing him at that price would not only bolster their midfield department but also won’t distort their budget for other signings.
