Aston Villa ‘interested’ in Manchester United target and Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries
Premier League rivals Aston Villa are ‘interested’ in Manchester United target and Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries, according to InterLive (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Holland international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils previously. Erik ten Hag wants to bolster the right-hand side of the defence in the upcoming transfer window.
For now, the Old Trafford side have held talks with the 27-year-old’s compatriot Jeremie Frimpong, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen. But the Manchester-based club have alternative options on their radar as well, with the Nerazzurri right-back on their list.
However, the Villans are also looking to acquire the services of Dumfries ahead of next summer. Unai Emery’s team have their eyes on the full-back’s teammate Marcelo Brozovic as well.
The former Villarreal manager’s arrival in the Lions’ dugout has turned their season around. They are now challenging for a place in the league table to get into a European competition in the upcoming campaign.
Dumfries is one of the best right-backs out there at the moment. The Holland international has made it to the Champions League semi-finals with Inter, beating AC Milan 2-1 in the first leg.
At United, Ten Hag has counted on Diogo Dalot for most of the season. The Portugal international had a brilliant first half of the 2022/23 campaign. But since the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup, the 23-year-old’s form has dipped a bit.
As a result, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has seen his game time increase. The former Crystal Palace star has forced his way into the gaffer’s plans after some impressive displays.

However, the English national has fallen down the pecking order since the previous campaign. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see him leave the Old Trafford side in the coming months. But it remains to be seen whether the Reed Devils will beat Villa to get a hold of Dumfries’ signature.
