Manchester United send scouts to watch RC Lens defender Kevin Danso
Manchester United have recently sent scouts to monitor and keep a close eye on RC Lens defender Kevin Danso, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 24-year-old is attracting a lot of interest from the Premier League ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Apart from the Red Devils, English top-flight rivals Newcastle United and Liverpool have also been monitoring him.
At the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, when Franck Haise’s team took on Olympique Marseille last weekend, the Old Trafford side had people looking at the Austria international. The centre-back played the full 90 minutes as the Lens beat Les Minots 2-1.
Danso signed for the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer of 2021. Since then, the Austrian has been ever-present in the French outfit’s starting lineup.
In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has played every minute for Lens in the league. Haise’s team have been flying high and are second in the table, six points behind Paris Saint-Germain.
In the past, Danso has also played in the PL. The centre-back spent a year at Southampton during the 2019/20 season. However, the defender hardly featured for the Saints during his time in England.
United’s backline has found a solid pairing in Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. However, at the moment, both of them are on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Sevilla in the first leg of the Europa League.
Thankfully, we have established centre-backs like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in our ranks. Luke Shaw has also done well centrally. But our captain and the Swedish national have spent most of their time on the bench this season.

Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if either Maguire or Lindelof opted to leave the Red Devils next summer. In that case, we will evidently need to bolster the backline. To that end, Danso has come into his own in France and showcased his talent.
