Manchester United target Alexis Mac Allister has Brighton & Hove Albion exit clause
Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister has an exit clause in his contract amidst interest from Manchester United, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro].
The midfielder’s deal does not include a traditional release clause. However, it does make it easier for teams interested in the Argentine’s services to acquire him.
To that end, the mechanism in place allows the 24-year-old to choose his next destination. As a result, it sounds like good news for the Red Devils and Premier League rivals Liverpool, who also have the World Cup winner on their radar.
Mac Allister has thrived at the Seagulls in the current campaign. Over the years, the midfielder has developed into a quality player and is now showcasing the extent of his talent under Roberto De Zerbi.
The Argentine has been pivotal to the Amex Stadium side’s success this season. As things stand, the East Sussex-based club have a good opportunity to attain Europa League football for the upcoming campaign.
In Qatar, the 24-year-old was a key player for Lionel Scaloni’s team. He featured in almost every game as La Albiceleste beat France in the final to lift the prestigious trophy.
United’s midfield was reinforced with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer. However, the Red Devils still seem to lack quality in the middle of the park.
In the absence of the Brazil and Denmark internationals, Erik ten Hag does not have a lot of options to count on. Fred has been underwhelming in recent weeks. Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are on the sidelines. As for Marcel Sabitzer, he is on loan from Bayern Munich.
