Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves prefers Barcelona move amidst Manchester United interest
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves prefers a move to Barcelona next summer amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Sport.
The midfielder is open to leaving the Molineux Stadium side in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the Portugal international ‘is waiting’ for the Camp Nou side. However, the Blaugrana are not keen on him as things stand.
In the Premier League, apart from the Red Devils, Arsenal and Liverpool have also sounded out the 26-year-old. But he wants to see what the La Liga outfit will decide before making a decision on the future.
Neves signed for Wolves in the summer of 2017 from FC Porto. Back then, the West Midlands club were in the Championship. Over the years, they have established themselves in the English top flight.
The Portuguese international has been pivotal to the Molineux Stadium side’s success. In the current campaign, Julen Lopetegui’s team looks set to once again survive the drop.
Barcelona’s midfielder is stacked for now. Xavi has the likes of Sergi Busquets, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi at his disposal. The Blaugrana can also call upon Frank Kessie and Sergi Roberto in the middle of the park.
Fred and Scott McTominay have lost their place in the starting lineup since Erik ten Hag’s arrival at United. The Brazilian and Scottish duo have not been able to convince fans of their qualities.
However, even as backups, the two have put in some inconsistent performances. Our bench strength seems to lack quality in depth when Casemiro or Christian Eriksen are unavailable.
