PSG midfielder Marco Verratti attracting interest from Manchester United
Manchester United are ‘interested’ in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Marco Verratti ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Italy international could part ways with the Parisians next summer as he does not trust the direction in which the French club are going. Also, in recent weeks, the midfielder has come under harsh criticism from the Ligue 1 outfit’s fans.
Erik ten Hag is keen on partnering the 30-year-old with Casemiro in the Red Devils’ engine room. He fits the Dutch manager’s plans, with the Old Trafford side ready to splash the cash.
Apart from the Manchester-based club, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur also have Verratti on their radar. The midfielder also has the option to go back to Italy, with Juventus eyeing him.
The 30-year-old has been at PSG for over a decade now. Over the years, the Italian has been a key player in the Ligue 1 outfit’s success, winning multiple league and domestic cup titles.
However, the Champions League has evaded Verratti at the Parc des Princes side. The French champions were knocked out of the round of 16 for the second year running by Bayern Munich this season.
Casemiro signed for United in the summer of 2022. The Brazil international has added much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ engine room since his arrival.
Ten Hag has preferred playing Christian Eriksen alongside the former Real Madrid star. But during the Denmark international’s absence, Fred and Scott McTominay had been inconsistent while starting matches.

Verratti is one of the best in the world in his position. However, WhoScored.com cites the Italian’s lack of discipline as one of his weaknesses. But it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will pip the other teams to the 30-year-old’s signature.
