Inter Milan refuse transfer talks for Manchester United target Lautaro Martinez
Serie A giants Inter Milan have no intention of holding conversations with interested parties for Manchester United target Lautaro Martinez, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian outfit do not want to hold transfer talks for the Argentina international. Instead, the Narazzurri intend to build their team around the striker.
A few weeks back, when an intermediary brought the Red Devils’ interest to Inter’s table, they refused to entertain it. Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have the 25-year-old on their radar as well.
United’s leading target is Spurs’ Harry Kane. However, in case the North London side do not let the English skipper leave, then Martinez is the alternative.
The Argentine signed for the Serie A giants in the summer of 2018. Over the years, the striker has gone from strength to strength and is now showing a keen eye for goal.
In the league, as things stand, the Nerazzurri are fighting for a place in the top four. But they have made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League, with the 25-year-old being pivotal to Simone Inzaghi’s team, finding the back of the net 23 times in 48 appearances in all competitions this season.
At the moment, Erik ten Hag has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only natural number nines at his disposal. The Dutch manager has been unable to rely on the two in the current campaign.
The French national has been on the sidelines through injury for most of the season. As for the Burnley loanee, he was signed on loan in January to provide cover up front but is evidently not up to United’s standards.
