Erik ten Hag content with Manchester United’s 2-2 draw vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United led Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the first half of their Premier League clash on April 27 in north London.

Jadon Sancho scored early and Marcus Rashford scored on the stroke of half-time to hand us a comfortable lead. Spurs had a chance to equalise just before Rashford’s striker.

But on the whole, the Red Devils deserved the lead going into halftime. Then, the Red Devils went on to have a shambolic half away from home.

Pedro Porro scored around 10 minutes into the second half. In the 61st minute, Anthony Martial and Fred came on for Sancho and Christian Eriksen.

Two points dropped vs Spurs

10 minutes later, Tyrell Malacia was introduced for Luke Shaw while Wout Weghorst came on for Antony. The game changed completely during this time, with the subs not making any positive impact at all.

Spurs were all over us and they got their equaliser in the 78th minute. Both teams could have won the game after this point but the game ended in a draw.

After the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ten Hag told BT Sport, via BBC:

“Of course when you are 2-0 up then you are a little bit disappointed when you draw. That’s quite obvious. We had the chances after the 2-1 to score the 3-1 and we didn’t and we concede the goal. I think in this week 2-2 is a good draw.”

No fan would want to hear those words when their team have just given up a two-goal lead to drop two points. But looking at the whole picture, this result isn’t the end of the world.

We lead Tottenham, who are in fifth, by six points and still have two games in hand. Moreover, this game was away from home and we didn’t have Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire in defence. It was not a bad point to share.
