Real Madrid ‘pressing’ to sign RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo amidst Manchester United interest
Spanish giants Real Madrid are ‘pressing’ to acquire the services of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Bild via Calciomercato.
Los Blancos seem serious about getting a hold of the playmaker’s signature. The Spain international’s current contract with the Bundesliga outfit is set to expire in the summer of 2024.
Die Roten Bullen want €60 million to part ways with the 24-year-old. However, the Red Bull Arena side are keen on extending his stay in Germany.
But the Red Devils also have Olmo on their radar. The Old Trafford side are set to compete with Madrid for the midfielder. Barcelona are interested in the Spaniard as well.
The 24-year-old joined Leipzig in January 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. Since then, the playmaker has developed into a quality star at the Bundesliga outfit.
However, in recent months, injuries have hampered Olmo’s game time and opportunities in Germany. In the current campaign, the Spaniard has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Die Roten Bullen, scoring four goals and providing six assists.
United’s number 10 position has been occupied by Bruno Fernandes for some time now. The Portugal international has been a pivotal player for the Red Devils over the years. In the last few fixtures, Erik ten Hag has also opted to deploy Marcel Sabizter in the playmaking role to good effect.
Apart from featuring as a number 10, Olmo is also capable of playing on the wings. However, the left-hand side of the Old Trafford side’s attack has been dominated by Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho as of late.

But it would evidently not hurt United to have more quality in depth. However, the Spaniard’s fitness issues are seemingly a cause for concern. Also, it remains to be seen whether the Manchester-based club will be able to beat Madrid to the punch if they do pursue the 24-year-old.
