Erik ten Hag ‘open’ to Amad Diallo inclusion at Manchester United next season
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is ‘open’ to including Amad Diallo in the Red Devils’ senior squad next season, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 20-year-old joined Sunderland on loan in the summer of 2022 and has been enjoying a stellar campaign with the Black Cats as of late. As a result, the Dutch manager and the Old Trafford side’s staff have been pleased with the youngster’s development.
United see the Championship as a stepping stone for young players with technical ability to make it into the first-team setup. Now, the Ivory Coast international is expected to be included in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour squad for the United States.
Amad signed for the Old Trafford side in January 2021 from Atalanta. After a few opportunities in the first team, the youngster hardly featured for United in the 2021/22 campaign.
Subsequently, he spent half of last season on loan at Rangers. But the 20-year-old did not enjoy the best of spells at the Scottish outfit.
The Ivorian’s stint at Sunderland did not go off to the best start either. However, the winger has thankfully found his feat at the Stadium of Light. In 33 appearances in the Championship, the forward has scored 12 goals and has provided two assists.
At the moment, Ten Hag sees Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho as the two options on the left wing. The England international has been especially impressive this season.
On the other hand, the right-hand side of the attack has an opening. Jadon Sancho has been a bit underwhelming, with the gaffer becoming impatient. Antony has had the Dutch manager’s faith, but there is a place for competition with the Brazilian in the squad.
