Manchester City send scouts to watch Manchester United target and AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi
Premier League rivals Manchester City sent scouts to watch Manchester United target and AS Monaco star Axel Disasi recently, according to Le Parisien (h/t Express).
Philippe Clement’s team took on Nantes in Ligue 1 last weekend. People associated with the Sky Blues were in attendance to watch the French defender as he scored a goal in the 2-2 draw.
Apart from Pep Guardiola’s team, scouts from Chelsea were also present. The 25-year-old is rated highly amongst the top sides in the English top flight. However, Paris Saint-Germain also have him on their radar.
The Red Devils are interested in Disasi. Erik ten Hag is willing to incorporate the centre-back into the squad next summer if he arrives for the right price. The Red and Whites value the France international at around £40 million.
However, competition for the 25-year-old’s signature has now intensified. The Old Trafford side will no longer have a free run at acquiring the defender’s services.
Disasi has developed into a fine centre-back at Monaco. The 25-year-old also played a part in France’s 2022 World Cup campaign, playing as a right-back.
United’s backline is stacked at the moment. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been Ten Hag’s preferred partnership in defence this season.
However, the Red Devils can also call upon Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Although our captain and the Sweden international have lost their place in the Old Trafford side’s starting lineup since the Dutch manager’s arrival.

Therefore, it is not unfathomable to think that Maguire and Lindelof would want to leave the club next summer for pastures new. In that case, Disasi has the talent to become a part of United’s squad. But it remains to be seen whether City will have a say in the French national’s future in the coming months.
