Valencia want £30 million for Manchester United target Giorgi Mamardashvili
Spanish giants Valencia want £30 million to part ways with Giorgi Mamardashvili amidst interest from Manchester United, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The shot-stopper’s camp held talks with a number of teams in the Premier League sides last week. One of the teams the Georgia international’s representatives spoke with were the Old Trafford side.
However, the Red Devils have only held initial talks with the 22-year-old. Similarly, English top-flight rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Leicester City have done the same.
Mamardashvili made his way to the La Liga outfit in the summer of 2021. In the goalkeeper’s debut season, he shared minutes with Jasper Cillessen in between the sticks.
However, in the current campaign, the Georgian is the undisputed number one for the Mestalla Stadium side. But Los Che are not having the best of times at the moment.
The 22-year-old has put in some inspiring displays this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions for Valencia, keeping seven clean sheets in the process. But the Spanish giants are currently in the relegation zone in La Liga.
David de Gea has been Erik ten Hag’s preferred shot-stopper in the current campaign. The Spaniard has been in fine form since last season, putting in some clutch performances.
But the 32-year-old does not have a quality cover on the bench. English nationals Tom Heaton and Jack Butland are the backup goalkeepers in the squad. With all due respect for the two, they are not up to United’s standards.

Therefore, we could evidently do with an addition to the goalkeeping department in the upcoming transfer window. Mamardashvili has shown a lot of potential and has the ability to be De Gea’s understudy at the Old Trafford side before eventually succeeding the Spaniard.
