Erik ten Hag ‘will push’ for permanent Marcel Sabitzer Manchester United transfer
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ‘will push’ to sign Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis next summer, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Austria international joined the Red Devils on a temporary move from the Bavarians until the end of the season in January. However, it did not include an option or obligation to buy the midfielder.
But the Old Trafford side are keen on keeping the 29-year-old on their books. The club and the gaffer have been impressed with him in the last few months.
As a result, Ten Hag wants to keep a hold of Sabitzer. The Dutch manager likes his fitness levels, mentality and professionalism.
Bayern are unlikely to stand in the way of the Austrian’s departure in the upcoming transfer window. However, the Allianz Arena side will look to get £25–30 million from the midfielder’s sale.
The 29-year-old has played a pivotal role at United in the current campaign. He has played a considerable amount of minutes in the absence of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
This season, the Denmark international and the former Real Madrid star have been essential to the gaffer’s plans. But in recent weeks, the two midfielders have been unavailable for various reasons.
While the Red Devils do have Fred and Scott McTominay in their ranks as well, the two have not instilled faith in the fanbase over the years with their inconsistent displays. Donny van de Beek is on the sidelines.

Therefore, Sabitzer’s arrival has brought much-needed quality to the middle of the park at the Old Trafford side. The 29-year-old has also added strength in depth to our squad. Thus, it seems like a wise option to make the Austrian’s move permanent next summer.
