Erik ten Hag approves Manchester United pursuit of SL Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos
Manchester United has ‘given the go-ahead’ to the Red Devils in their pursuit of SL Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, according to Spanish outlet AS (h/t Metro).
The Old Trafford side are interested in acquiring the Portugal international’s services in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the Dutch manager has approved the Manchester-based club’s approach for the youngster.
Erik ten Hag is keen to add a number nine to the squad next summer. The 21-year-old is one of the names on United’s list to bolster the front line.
The Primeira Liga outfit are willing to listen to offers for Ramos. However, the Eagles want around £87.9 million for the in-form striker, who is also on Spanish giants Real Madrid’s radar.
In the current campaign, the Portugal international has taken the mantle at Benfica. Roger Schmidt’s have lost just once all season in the Primeira Liga. They are also in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and will face Inter Milan.
Ramos has been the Eagles’ talisman. The 21-year-old has made 36 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists.
The Portugal international is young and still has a long way to go in his career. Considering the striker’s performances as of late, he has shown immense talent and has the potential to make it to the top.
United’s current predicament in the front line is evident with the struggles of Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst. The French national has had fitness issues for most of the season, while the Burnley loanee leaves a lot to be desired with his finishing.
