Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic ‘earmarked’ by Manchester United as Harry Kane alternative
Manchester United have ‘earmarked’ Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic as an alternative to Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The North London side’s talisman is the Red Devils’ top target to bolster the forward line in the upcoming transfer window. The Old Trafford side also have Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on their radar.
However, if the Old Trafford side fail in their pursuit of the England international, the Serbia international is on the list of potential targets for the Manchester-based club.
Mitrovic has vast experience of the Premier League. In the summer of 2015, the 28-year-old signed for Newcastle United. Then, in January 2018, the striker moved to the Craven Cottage side.
After being ruthless with his goalscoring in the Championship last season, the Serbian has been relied on by Marco Silva’s team in the current campaign as well as they challenge for a European spot in the league table.
Mitrovic is a robust and aggressive forward. This season, he has found the back of the net 12 times and has provided four assists for the Cottagers in 25 appearances in all competitions.
However, the Serbian’s temperament lets him down at times. The 28-year-old showed the best and worst side of his game after giving Fulham the lead and then being sent off in the FA Cup quarter-final against Man United, with the Cottagers eventually losing 3-1.
Erik ten Hag currently has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal as the only two natural strikers in the squad. Therefore, we could do with more quality up front.

However, Mitrovic seemingly presents a risk due to his volatile character. Therefore, while the 28-year-old possesses a lot of talent, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to pursue other options.
