Arsenal ‘confident’ of beating Manchester United to West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice
Premier League rivals Arsenal are ‘confident’ of beating Manchester United to the signing of West Ham United star Declan Rice, according to the Evening Standard.
The Gunners have identified the 24-year-old as their top target for the upcoming transfer window. David Moyes’ team are also resigned to the fact that the England international will leave the Hammers next summer.
Rice’s current contract with the London-based club is set to expire in the summer of 2025. However, the midfielder, who plays as a ‘destroyer’ – a position whereby a midfielder is responsible for the dirty work ahead of the centre-backs – has no plans of putting pen to paper on a new contract.
At the moment, Arsenal are flying high in the English top flight. The Gunners are at the top of the league table. They look on course to win the PL title after almost two decades.
Mikel Arteta has the likes of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey at his disposal. The North London side also signed Jorginho in the previous transfer window.
However, Arsenal will face a lot of competition in their bid to get a hold of Rice. Apart from Man United, Chelsea and Manchester City are also eyeing the midfielder’s services.
The 24-year-old joined West Ham’s academy after leaving the Stamford Bridge side. Over the years, the England international has established himself as a key player for both club and country.
For now, Erik ten Hag has Casemiro in his rank. The Brazil international signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid. The 31-year-old has become pivotal to the Dutch manager’s plans in Manchester after consistently performing well.

Therefore, Rice does not seem to be the right signing for us with Casemiro at our disposal. However, it still remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will scupper Arsenal’s chances of getting the 24-year-old.
