Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi being ‘closely followed’ by Manchester United
Davide Frattesi, who plays for Serie A outfit Sassuolo, is being ‘closely followed’ by Manchester United in the Premier League, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Tuttomercatoweb.
In the upcoming transfer window, the 23-year-old will be one to look out for. The Red Devils have sent scouts to watch the midfielder play for the Neroverdi.
Apart from the Old Trafford side, the Frattesi is also attracting interest from within Italy. Serie A giants Juventus and AS Roma have an eye on the midfielder.
The 23-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at the Giallorossi and signed for Sassuolo in the summer of 2017. He subsequently spent time out on loan at teams like Empoli and Monza.
Frattesi returned to the Mapei Stadium side last season and established himself in their first team. The Italy international has once again been a key player for Alessio Dionisi’s team this term.
In the current campaign, the Neroverdi are in the middle of the table in Serie A. The 23-year-old has made 27 appearances in the league, scoring six goals.
Last summer, United bolstered their midfield ranks with the addition of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. The two have become pivotal players for Erik ten Hag this season. The Brazilian has especially made a difference in the team.
The Dutch manager also has the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzer to call upon for the rest of the campaign. However, we could seemingly do with more quality in depth in the middle of the park.

Frattesi has shown a lot of promise at Sassuolo. The Old Trafford side could evidently do with some fresh blood in the engine room. But it remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old will be pursued by the Manchester-based club in the coming months.
