Manchester United are ‘leading the race’ to acquire the services of Victor Osimhen from Italian outfit Napoli in the upcoming transfer window, according to Gianluca Di Marzio via Kelbet (h/t The Sun).

Next summer, the Red Devils will be in the market for a striker. To that end, the Old Trafford side are the favourites to get a hold of the Nigeria international’s signature.

However, the Manchester-based club will have to pay a hefty sum to compel the Serie A giants to part ways with the forward. The Partenopei are willing to sell the 24-year-old for a fee in the region of £115–£130 million.

Apart from United, Premier League rivals are also interested in Osimhen. French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also being linked with a move for the striker.

The Nigerian made his way to Naples in the summer of 2020 from Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille. In the 24-year-old’s first two seasons at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium side, he was decent.

However, in the current campaign, Osimhen has been ruthless in front of the goal. In 29 appearances in all competitions for Napoli, the forward has found the back of the net 25 times and has provided five assists.

Luciano Spalletti’s team are flying high this season. The Nigerian has been pivotal for the Italian outfit as they look set to win the Serie A title for the first time in over 30 years. In the Champions League, the 24-year-old has been a key player as well, with the Partenopei reaching the quarter-finals.

Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford in the current campaign. The 25-year-old is the only forward who has contributed considerably in the final third under the Dutch manager.

Therefore, we could evidently do with a prolific goal-scorer in our ranks. Hopefully, next summer, United will be able to get a deal over the line for Osimhen.
