Manchester United defender Brandon Williams ‘attracting interest’ from several Championship clubs
Manchester United star Brandon Williams is ‘attracting interest’ from several Championship clubs at the moment, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
A number of clubs from the second tier of English football are targeting the 22-year-old. To that end, the Red Devils are willing to part ways with the full-back on a temporary basis in the upcoming transfer window.
In the summer of 2024, the English national’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire. But still, the Manchester-based club are open to loaning out the defender.
Williams made his way through the youth ranks at United. Then in the 2019/20 season, the youngster broke into the Red Devils’ senior squad and was given a number of opportunities in the first team.
However, subsequently, the defender hardly made any appearances and joined Norwich City on a temporary move in the previous campaign, where he played regularly.
However, upon the 22-year-old’s return to Manchester, he has n featured much. The English national has made just one appearance all season, coming on as a substitute in the final minutes of the 2-0 win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup.
While a right-footed player, Williams has the ability to play on the left and right-hand side of the defence. But the gaffer has an abundance of talent in both positions.
Diogo Dalot has been the Dutch manager’s preferred option at right-back, while Luke Shaw has played the majority of the games at left-back in the current campaign. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia are also at the former Ajax head coach’s disposal.

It has evidently been hard for the 22-year-old full-back to get any opportunities due to the competition for a place in the squad. Therefore, it would be wise to send the English national out on loan to gain more experience and develop.
