Marcel Sabitzer, who joined Manchester United on loan in January from Bayern Munich, is unsure of his future with the Red Devils beyond this season.

The Old Trafford side will look to sign a creative midfielder next summer to bolster the middle of the park. However, the Manchester-based club do not have the option to make the Austria international temporary move permanent.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, the 29-year-old reflected on his decision to join United in the previous transfer window and is not distracted by where he will be when the campaign concludes.

“I had to make a quick decision (to join) in January. I was focused on this, it was clear it is just a loan until the summer. I take every game as it comes, I am very happy to be here. I will give 100 per cent. Whatever happens in the summer, we will see.”

Sabitzer made a name for himself in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig. The versatile midfielder developed into a fine talent at the Red Bull Arena side and became an important player for Die Roten Bullen.

In the summer of 2021, Bayern came knocking for the Austrian and he reunited with Julian Nagelsmann. However, the 29-year-old has struggled to cement his place in the Bundesliga giants’ starting lineup.

This season with the Bavarians, Sabitzer started in just seven league games. Subsequently, on deadline day in January, United signed him. The 29-year-old has been key to Erik ten Hag’s plans in Manchester.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have become pivotal players for the Dutch manager at the Old Trafford side. However, with the Denmark international’s injury and the Brazilian’s recent suspensions, the Austrian has featured a lot.

Sabitzer scored his first goal for the Red Devils in the 3-1 FA Cup win over Fulham in the quarter-finals. The midfielder has so far made nine appearances in all competitions for us.
