Real Madrid ‘monitoring’ Manchester United target and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane

Spanish giants Real Madrid are ‘monitoring’ the situation of Manchester United target Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Los Blancos are looking to bolster their forward line in the upcoming transfer window. The Santiago Bernabeu side have held discussions regarding the prospect of making a move for the 29-year-old.

The La Liga outfit are of the opinion that the North London side’s chairman, Daniel Levy, would rather sell the England international to a foreign club if he were to leave Spurs next summer.

Kane’s current contract at Tottenham expires in the summer of 2024. If the 29-year-old does not put pen to paper on new terms, Madrid could also agree a pre-contract with the striker in the winter transfer window.

At the moment, Los Blancos have Karim Benzema in their ranks as the only established number nine. The French national is backed up by the likes of Mariano Diaz. Carlo Ancelotti has also opted to deploy Rodygo as a centre-forward on a number of occasions.

As for United, Erik ten Hag has identified the Three Lions’ skipper as the primary target to add reinforcements to the squad. The Dutch manager is keen on acquiring the England international’s services.

For now, the gaffer has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal. He has also had to play Marcus Rashford centrally on a number of occasions. The 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of our attack this season.

However, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also expected to look for a number nine in the upcoming transfer window. The Bavarians are a realistic option for the Spurs striker if he moves abroad.

Therefore, it looks like the Old Trafford side will face competition from some of the biggest teams in Europe for Kane. Will the Red Devils be able to pull off a deal next summer? Only time will tell.
