AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham watched by Manchester United in Europa League
Manchester United ‘sent scouts’ to watch AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham in action against Real Sociedad in the Europa League, according to Giallorossi.net (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Serie A giants took on the Spanish outfit last week at home and beat them 2-0. In the victory, the England international started but was substituted at the hour mark.
At the moment, the Red Devils are in search of a new number nine. However, Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the 25-year-old, who previously played for Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Abraham made his way through the youth ranks at the Blues. After a few seasons out on loan, Frank Lampard gave the striker a chance in the Stamford Bridge side’s first team.
The England international did well for the West London club. However, with the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, the 25-year-old lost his place and went down in the pecking order.
Subsequently, Abraham joined Roma in the summer of 2021 and did well in his debut campaign in Italy. However, the forward has been a bit underwhelming this season.
For now, Erik ten Hag only has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the two natural strikers at his disposal. However, with the former AS Monaco star on the sidelines for a considerable period, the gaffer has had to rely on the Holland international.
Considering the lack of options in the number nine position, we evidently need to bolster our attack. But while Abraham has experience in the English top flight, the 25-year-old has not shown consistency up until now.
