Manchester United ‘could try to sign’ Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries next summer
Manchester United ‘could try to sign’ Inter Milan full-back the Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries next summer, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Erik ten Hag remains a huge admirer of the 26-year-old ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Nerazzurri could be convinced to part ways with the right-back for £40–50 million.
Dumfries signed for the Serie A giants in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, the Holland international has been a pivotal player for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
In the current campaign, the 26-year-old has been a key player for the Italian outfit. He has made 32 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring two goals and providing six assists.
Inter have not been at their best in the current campaign. However, the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating FC Porto in the round of 16.
In the Serie A table, the Italian outfit are second. However, there are a number of teams in the chasing pack for a top-four spot. The Nerazzurri trail table-toppers Napoli by 18 points.
Erik ten Hag has relied on Diogo Dalot for most of the season. The Portugal international has been United’s first-choice right-back since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
However, in recent weeks, the gaffer has also called upon Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former Crystal Palace star has deputised admirably in the absence of Dalot. The 25-year-old has gained the trust of the former Ajax head coach with some impressive displays.
