Tottenham Hotspur ‘not contemplating’ Harry Kane sale amidst Manchester United interest
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are ‘not contemplating’ the sale of Harry Kane amidst interest from Manchester United, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
Spurs have no plans of parting ways with their star striker anytime soon. The North London side’s chiefs are determined to keep a hold of the England international.
At the moment, the 29-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024 (transfermarkt). But the Lilywhites want to tie him down to a long-term deal.
For now, Tottenham have entered initial talks with Kane to agree on new terms. However, nothing is advanced as of yet in that regard.
The 29-year-old has been the North London side’s main outlet for several years now. Spurs have had a relatively fruitful period in the last few seasons, albeit they have not won a trophy.
Since the 2014/15 season, the England international has built a reputation for being a prolific goal-scorer. In the current campaign, he has once again led the Lilywhites’ front line.
While Antonio Conte has been able to rely on his striker, other forwards in the team have struggled to contribute in the final third consistently. Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are having relatively quiet seasons.
As for United, Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford for goals. The 25-year-old has also had to play as a number nine on several occasions, with Anthony Martial on the sidelines and Wout Weghorst the only natural striker available.

Therefore, we could evidently do with more quality up front. Kane seems like the perfect option considering his PL experience. But it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will decide to sell the 29-year-old for a fair price to us.
